ADSI’s Latest Software Release Delivers Powerful Shipping Configuration Tools for Non-Technical Users

Schaumburg, IL – April 03, 2017 – ADSI announced today the release of Ship-IT 7.0, its new, user-configurable multicarrier shipping software, designed for shippers who want to tailor their own system without relying as heavily on IT resources. The new software includes robust multi-carrier shipping software capabilities, along with an intuitive dashboard where users can create, modify and test their own business rules and documents. This release also includes optional modules for order management, cartonization and additional integrations with eBay, Amazon, and many other online marketplace platforms.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our newest software, which is designed in response to requests from shippers who want to be more hands-on with configuring their shipping system themselves,” said Bob Fischer. “In the past, most companies relied on technical resources to put updates or changes in place. Now, users with basic computer skills can make the changes themselves.”

Ship-IT 7.0 offers the following capabilities:

Business Rule Engine

At the core of Ship-IT 7.0 is a new Business Rule Engine, designed to enable non-technical users to create their own shipment processing rules. “For example, a user can easily set up rules for freight markups, customer-specific carrier selections, or special packaging requirements on certain products,” said Fischer. “and they don’t take long to create. This lets our customers react quickly to dynamic business changes.”

Document Engine

Ship-IT 7.0 also offers an optional Document Engine, where users can select standard, carrier-compliant shipping labels, documents and emails, or create a branded version of their own. “We’ve made it much easier for users to create their own look and feel on all their communications,” said Fischer. “It’s a powerful way to build a relationship with customers.”

Cartonization Module

Ship-IT 7.0 also offers an optional Cartonization module that ensures orders are packed in the most optimal package size for lowest-cost shipping rates. “Carriers’ rising dimensional freight rates are making it tougher for shippers to protect their profit margins,” said Fischer. “Our solution analyzes orders and determines the best box size to pack items in to minimize void or dead space. The difference in costs can be huge.”

Expanded E-Commerce Marketplace Integrations

Ship-IT 7.0 can also be configured to automatically process Amazon Seller Fulfilled Prime orders and connect to many leading e-commerce platforms such as eBay, Overstock, Magento, Shopify, ChannelAdvisor, and many others. “We’ve removed the touches that many companies go through to process online orders,” said Fischer. “Our software can process online orders in seconds. It calculates accurate shipping costs, prints the documents and labels, captures the tracking details and uploads it to the e-commerce platform – all without manual intervention.”

Expanded Carrier Options

Ship-IT 7.0 offers ADSI’s largest selection of carriers that can be onboarded to date. “We continue to add U.S., Canada and other international carriers on a regular basis,” said Fischer. “With this release, we’ve made it easier than ever for users to bring on new carriers, whether they’re postal, small parcel, regional or international.” ADSI has developed close partnerships with many carriers with the goal of helping customers continue to enhance carrier management. Earlier this year, ADSI was recognized by FedEx as its Top Compatible Solutions Provider for 2017, a distinction that will yield even greater benefits to both companies’ customers.

Mobile-Ready Deployment

In addition to the above features, ADSI continues to expand its software on a growing line of mobile computers. “The Internet of Things (IoT) is here, and becoming more pervasive in supply chain execution every day,” said Fischer. “We have architected our software so that it is deployable on wearable and mobile computers and printers, enabling workers to take technology with them wherever they’re needed most in the warehouse.”

ADSI Helps Industrial Product Manufacturer Streamline Order Fulfillment Workflow with Mobile Computing

“The Company” is a leading provider of industrial products that meet ADSI solution to fulfill orders fastera wide range of process-automation needs. It manufactures more than 4,000 products at its ISO 9001-certified facilities to meet the exacting demands and rugged service conditions of many industries.

Over the years, the company has taken a methodical approach to optimizing the operational workflow from order placement to customer delivery – and has relied on ADSI shipping software and mobile computing solutions to address multiple points in the process.

CHALLENGE

The company wanted to improve efficiency and accuracy in its order picking process. To fulfill orders, the team was manually picking orders to pallets and cartons, using paper pick tickets that were updated and rekeyed back into the system. This was a time-consuming process that also allowed picking errors to slip through. Picking errors were costly, causing additional charges related to returns, rush shipping, restocking, etc.

Additionally, the company’s customers could place partial case orders, which meant the staff was constantly opening cases, pulling partials to fulfill orders and having to note the remaining quantities on the open case for inventory control. This was a time-consuming manual process that made it difficult to ascertain actual inventory on hand.

SOLUTION

The picking process was streamlined by implementing a combination of ADSI software, Zebra mobile computers and printers on the staff forklifts:

  • Now, orders are downloaded from the order entry system onto the Zebra mobile computers, which the team uses to pick and pack and fulfill orders.
  • If a full case is opened to ship smaller quantities, the team scans the barcode on the item, updates the quantity and quickly re-labels it using the Zebra printer on the forklift.

According to the company’s Director of Logistics, ADSI’s new solution to fulfill orders fits the increasingly real-time world in which the company works with its customers.

“The more real-time we get, the less time we have for traditional stocking activities, etc. Our mobile computing and printing solution keeps the staff on their equipment and productive. We’ve gone from hard-coded screens to mobile computers with touch screens where they do the bulk of their work to fulfill orders. The printers are wireless, so this lets them print from anywhere in the warehouse.” Company Director of Logistics

In addition to ADSI’s mobile computing solution, the company has also implemented ADSI’s Pack-IT to fulfill orders and Ship-IT™ multi-carrier shipping software to streamline shipment processing and reduce freight costs.

BENEFITS

  • Picking errors have been virtually eliminated. This has reduced shipping costs by eliminating return shipments and rush shipments to correct the problem.
  • Picking time has been greatly reduced. Order picking is now largely a guided process fed by order line item data on the mobile computers.
  • Labor associated with order picking is also reduced. The staff can now manage a much greater portion of the process directly from their forklifts, eliminating the need to stop and get off the forklift to complete orders.
  • Restocking related to return inventory is also reduced, eliminating the labor associated with that task.
  • The time required to fulfill orders has been significantly reduced as a result of all these improvements through automation.

In the warehouse Radwell, proudly purchased an automated picking system called Autostore provided by Swisslog. This system consists of 34 autonomous robots that run on an aluminum grid 18 feet in the air, picking up and delivering one of 50,000 bins to one of the nine stations.

Radwell Facility Features

  • Autostore built by Swisslog – Automated Picking system consisting of 34 robots, approximately 50,000 bins and nine picking and putaway stations capable of picking over 500 bins an hour.
  • Automated Shipping System – Radwell integrated several devices to automate the shipping process from pick to truck. System contains: ADSI’s Ship-IT multi-carrier shipping software, XPAK’s Robox, a robotic multi-carton box maker, an automated print and apply solution through QMI Services, a carton sealer and various conveyor belts built by Radwell with help from ProHandling.
  • Racking – Radwell and MHS Lift worked together to design a warehouse racking plan that optimized the warehouse space to hold 38,000 bins and 10,000 cardboard gaylords for storing inventory. The addition of a new Crown stock picker, Crown turret stock picker and the retrofitting of two existing Crown turret stock pickers made the project complete. Not an inch of space was left while still maintaining the desired efficiency.
  • Pneumatic Tube Delivery system by Aerocom– Delivers tubes with small parts to one of 26 stations placed throughout the facility to service our technicians with parts and supplies for their repairs.
  • Tote Conveyor Transport System – Over a mile of existing conveyor system with almost a hundred stations that was transformed into a goods delivery system for our receiving, returns, pre-evaluation, production, repair, putaway and shipping functions.
  • Cafeteria – Our beach-themed cafeteria will make you believe that somehow you ended up on a boardwalk at the Jersey Shore, with games, arcade, beach furniture and surf boards.
  • Fish Tanks – We have over 50 fish tanks in the facility, hundreds of fish and thousands of gallons of water for them to swim in!
  • Gym – Full gym facility available for employees to keep in shape and stay healthy!

Fulfill-IT Designed to Optimize and Speed Up Order Fulfillment for Online Retailers and Companies Selling with Amazon Prime and Other Online Marketplaces

Schaumburg, IL – March 16, 2017 – ADSI announced today the release of Fulfill-IT, its new order management and multi-carrier shipping software for online retailers and e-commerce shippers. The new software expands ADSI’s existing product line with e-commerce modules for order management and cartonization, and enhanced shipping modules designed to speed up shipping for e-commerce fulfillment.

The company will be demonstrating Fulfill-IT in Booth #515 at the upcoming Operations Summit on March 27 – 29, 2017, in Pittsburgh, PA.

ADSI’s Fulfill-IT e-commerce fulfillment software includes the following functionality:

Order Management

ADSI’s new e-commerce solution offers much needed order processing capabilities that are not typically found in today’s multi-carrier shipping systems. “We developed our e-commerce order management software by working closely with many growing online retailers and identifying the visibility gaps and excess manual ‘touches’ that slow down their fulfillment process,” said Bob Fischer, CEO of ADSI.

The new software provides an order management dashboard that lets the fulfillment staff view and manage orders, group and wave them for picking and packing, and automatically process them for shipping, all within one system. “We’ve already integrated our core shipping system to many different order management systems,” said Fischer, “but we created our new order tools for companies who want added flexibility to drill into and work with orders within their shipping system.”

Cartonization Module

Fulfill-IT also offers an optional module for order cartonization to ensure that orders are packed in the most economical package size. “With carriers’ rising dimensional freight rates, many companies are looking for ways to make sure orders are shipped in the smallest possible carton to reduce shipping costs,” said Fischer. “Our software analyzes orders and determines the best box size minimize void or dead space in the package. It’s a significant money saver.”

Amazon-Prime Certified and More

Fulfill-IT can also be configured to automatically process Amazon Prime orders and connect to many leading e-commerce platforms such as eBay, Overstock.com, Ecometry, Magento, Shopify, ChannelAdvisor, and others. “We’ve eliminated the extra manual steps that many companies are going through to process e-commerce marketplace orders, such as Amazon Prime orders,” said Fischer.

“Our software processes packages in seconds. It calculates accurate shipping costs, produces the labels and documents, captures the tracking information and uploads the details to the e-commerce platform as buyer’s place orders – all without manual intervention,” he said.

Expanded Shipping Features

Fulfill-IT takes advantage of the extensive carrier library the company has created in conjunction with Ship-IT, its core multi-carrier shipping software. “We continue to add U.S., Canada and other international carriers on a regular basis,” said Fischer. “Also, many of our e-commerce customers have requested more international postal carrier options to handle deliveries in other markets such as the UK, Australia and Canada. Our software supports the USPS, Royal Mail, Canada Post, the Australian Post and others.”

Branded Emails, Labels and Documents

The new software also includes a branding tool that lets customers create attractively branded emails, labels and packing lists with their own logos and messaging. “It’s been exciting to see how online retailers are turning the shipping process into a continuation of the shopping experience for their customers,” said Fischer. “We have some very creative examples of labels and emails with offers that they’re creating to do this and we’re happy to show anyone looking for ideas.”

All of these capabilities have been integrated in a way that enables online retailers to process orders much faster, control shipping costs and ramp up fulfillment without increasing labor.
