APICS ISM Monthly Meeting - October 2008

The attendees of the APICS ISM Monthly meeting began with a tour of the OCC RFID Lab at Oakton Community College. Many enjoyed witnessing the effectiveness of what technology can accomplish.

After dinner was complete, Motorola, Zebra Technologies and ADSI took to the stage for an interactive discussion on RFID. Many questions were answered and asked by the audience on:

  • Where is RFID today?
  • Why isn’t it at the forefront of adoption?
  • What are the real world applications companies today experienced with the technology?
  • How does security work with RFID?
  • What benefits can the customer (of the customer) receive?
  • What does a complete RFID system for distribution/manuf/warehouse look like?

Once the discussion was complete, the audience had an opportunity view RFID equipment supplied by Zebra Technologies and Motorola.
